Timsbury 12 Car Review and Winners

Timsbury 12 Car Review and Results - Congratulations to Paul Freeth and Martin Moore for the overall win.

The final 12 Car of the season arranged by Duncan Stonier proved to be a proper challenge for the seven crews that made the start with two experts and five novices making up the field. Three late withdrawals were disappointing but the enthusiasm wasn’t dampened despite the rain.

The route of nearly sixty miles included ten time controls and numerous route/passage checks to keep everyone honest as the crews took a loop from Timsbury up towards Newton St Loe, Chewton Keynsham, Pensford, Hunstrete, down the A37 and a dart around the edge of the Chew Valley before heading back South of Midsomer Norton finally returning to base just after 10pm. A post-event supper was laid on by Mandy Stonier and Diane Whittock for the weary crews and it turned into a properly nice social evening with many stories being shared.

A great win by Martin Moore and Paul Freeth in their MG followed closely by Charlie Marsh and Taff Evans, a result even more impressive as the lights in the venerable Triumph gave up in the latter stages and they finished using a torch! We had some brave beginners out too and all credit to them for making the finish, it wasn’t easy!

We had a splendid turnout of marshals which makes the evening run so much better and Nick Chapman had results ready in no time at all.
